Nehemiah 10 · נחמיה

And because of all this we make a firm covenant, and write it; and our princes, Levites, and our priests, set their seal to it.

Now those who set their seal are, Neĥemya the Tirshata, the son of Ḥakhalya, and Żidqiyya,

Seraya, ῾Azarya, Yirmeya,

Pashĥur, Amarya, Malkiyya,

Ḥattush, Shevanya, Mallukh,

Ḥarim, Meremot, ῾Ovadya,

Daniyyel, Ginneton, Barukh,

Meshullam, Aviyya, Miyyamin,

Ma῾azeya, Bilgay, Shema῾ya: these were the priests.

And the Levites: both Yeshua the son of Azanya, Binnuy of the sons of Ḥenadad, Qadmi᾽el;

and their brothers, Shevanya, Hodiyya, Qelita, Pelaya, Ḥanan,

Mikha, Reĥov, Ḥashavya,

Zakhur, Sherevya, Shevanya,

Hodiyya, Bani, Beninu.

The chiefs of the people; Par῾osh, Paĥat-mo᾽av, ῾Elam, Zattu, Bani,

Bunni, ῾Azgad, Bevay,

Adoniyya, Bigvay, ῾Adin,

Ater, Ḥizqiyya, ῾Azzur,

Hodiyya, Ḥashum, Beżay,

Ḥarif, ῾Anatot, Nevay,

Magpi῾ash, Meshullam, Ḥezir,

Meshezav᾽el, Żadoq, Yaddua,

Pelatya, Ḥanan, ῾Anaya,

Hoshea, Ḥananya, Ḥashshuv,

Halloĥesh, Pilĥa, Shoveq,

Reĥum, Ḥashavna, Ma῾aseya,

and Aĥiyya, Ḥanan, ῾Anan,

Mallukh, Ḥarim, Ba῾ana.

And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the gate keepers, the singers, the temple servants, and all they who have separated themselves from the peoples of the lands to the Tora of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, everyone having knowledge, and having understanding;

join with their brethren, their nobles, and enter into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in the Tora of God, which was given by Moshe the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the Lord our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;

and that we will not give our daughters to the peoples of the land, or take their daughters for our sons:

and if the peoples of the land bring in wares or any grain on the sabbath day to sell, that we will not buy it of them on the sabbath, or on the holy day: and that we will forego the produce of the seventh year, and the exaction of every debt.

We also lay ordinances on ourselves, to charge ourselves yearly with the third part of a shekel for the service of the house of our God;

for the showbread, and for the continual meal offering, and for the continual burnt offering, of the sabbaths, of the new moons, for the appointed seasons, and for the holy things, and for the sin offerings to make atonement for Yisra᾽el, and for all the work of the house of our God.

And we have cast lots among the priests, the Levites, and the people, for the wood offering, to bring it to the house of our God, according to our fathers’ houses, at times appointed, year by year, to burn upon the altar of the Lord our God, as it is written in the Tora:

and to bring the firstfruits of our ground, and the firstfruits of all fruit of all trees, year by year, to the house of the Lord:

also the firstborn of our sons, and of our cattle, as it is written in the Tora, and the firstlings of our herds and of our flocks, to bring to the house of our God, to the priests who minister in the house of our God:

and that we shall bring the firstfruits of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and oil, to the priests, to the chambers of the house of our God; and the tithes of our ground to the Levites; for they, the Levites receive the tithes in all the cities of our tillage.

And the priest the son of Aharon shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take tithes: and the Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithes to the house of our God, to the chambers, into the treasure house.

For the children of Yisra᾽el and the children of Levi shall bring the offering of the corn, of the new wine, and the oil, to the chambers, where are the vessels of the sanctuary, and the priests who minister, and the gate keepers, and the singers: and we will not forsake the house of our God.
