And it came to pass, at the time of the return of the year, at the time when the kings go out to battle, that Yo᾽av led forth the power of the army, and ravaged the country of the children of ῾Ammon, and came and besieged Rabba. But David remained at Yerushalayim. And Yo᾽av smote Rabba, and destroyed it.

And David took the crown of their king from off his head, and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it; and it was set upon David’s head: and he also brought very much spoil out of the city.

And he brought out the people who were in it, and set them to work with saws, and with harrows of iron, and with axes. Even so did David deal with all the cities of the children of ῾Ammon. And David and all the people returned to Yerushalayim.

And it came to pass after this that there arose war at Gezer with the Pelishtim; at which time Sibbekhay the Ḥushatite slew Sippay, that was of the children of the Rafa; and they were subdued.

And there was war again with the Pelishtim; and Elĥanan the son of Ya᾽ir slew Laĥmi the brother of Golyat the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.

And yet again there was war at Gat, where there was a man of great stature, whose fingers and toes were twenty four, six on each hand, and six on each foot: and he also was the son of the Rafa.

And he insulted Yisra᾽el, so Yehonatan the son of Shim῾a, David’s brother, slew him.

These were born to the Rafa in Gat; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
