I Chronicles 13 ·

1

And David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader.

2

And David said to all the congregation of Yisra᾽el, If it seem good to you, and that it be of the Lord our God, let us send abroad to our brethren everywhere, who are left in all the land of Yisra᾽el, and with them also to the priests and Levites who are in their cities that have pasture lands that they may gather themselves to us:

3

and let us bring back the ark of our God to us: for we did not inquire at it in the days of Sha᾽ul.

4

And all the congregation said that they would do so: for the thing seemed right in the eyes of all the people.

5

So David gathered all Yisra᾽el together, from Shiĥor of Miżrayim as far as the entrance of Ḥamat, to bring the ark of God from Qiryat-ye῾arim.

6

And David went up, and all Yisra᾽el to Ba῾ala, that is, to Qiryat-ye῾arim, which belonged to Yehuda, to bring up from there the ark of God the Lord, who dwells above the keruvim, by whose name it is called.

7

And they carried the ark of God in a new cart out of the house of Avinadav: and ῾Uzza and Aĥyo drove the cart.

8

And David and all Yisra᾽el played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with lyres, and with lutes, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.

9

And when they came to the threshing floor of Kidon, ῾Uzza put out his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen shook it.

10

And the anger of the Lord burned against ῾Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God.

11

And David was vexed, because the Lord had broken out upon ῾Uzza: so that place is called Pereż-῾uzza to this day.

12

And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?

13

So David did not bring the ark to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of ῾Oved-edom the Gittite.

14

וַיֵּ֩שֶׁב֩ אֲר֨וֹן הָאֱלֹהִ֜ים עִם־בֵּ֨ית עֹבֵ֥ד אֱדֹ֛ם בְּבֵית֖וֹ שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה חֳדָשִׁ֑ים וַיְבָ֧רֶךְ יְהֹוָ֛ה אֶת־בֵּ֥ית עֹבֵֽד־אֱדֹ֖ם וְאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־לֽוֹ׃ {ס}

And the ark of God remained with the family of ῾Oved-edom in his house for three months. And the Lord blessed the house of ῾Oved-edom and all that he had.
