for there was the Tent of Meeting of God, which Moshe the servant of the Lord had made in the wilderness.4אֲבָ֗ל אֲר֤וֹן הָאֱלֹהִים֙ הֶעֱלָ֤ה דָוִיד֙ מִקִּרְיַ֣ת יְעָרִ֔ים בַּהֵכִ֥ין ל֖וֹ דָּוִ֑יד כִּ֧י נָֽטָה־ל֛וֹ אֹ֖הֶל בִּירוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃But the ark of God David had brought up from Qiryat-ye῾arim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Yerushalayim.5וּמִזְבַּ֣ח הַנְּחֹ֗שֶׁת אֲשֶׁ֤ר עָשָׂה֙ בְּצַלְאֵל֙ בֶּן־אוּרִ֣י בֶן־ח֔וּר שָׁ֕ם לִפְנֵ֖י מִשְׁכַּ֣ן יְהֹוָ֑ה וַיִּדְרְשֵׁ֥הוּ שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה וְהַקָּהָֽל׃Moreover the brazen altar, that Beżal᾽el the son of Uri, the son of Ḥur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of the Lord: and Shelomo and the congregation sought to it.6וַיַּ֩עַל֩ שְׁלֹמֹ֨ה שָׁ֜ם עַל־מִזְבַּ֤ח הַנְּחֹ֙שֶׁת֙ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֖ר לְאֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֑ד וַיַּ֧עַל עָלָ֛יו עֹל֖וֹת אָֽלֶף׃And Shelomo went up there to the brazen altar before the Lord, which was at the Tent of Meeting, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.7בַּלַּ֣יְלָה הַה֔וּא נִרְאָ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים לִשְׁלֹמֹ֑ה וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֔וֹ שְׁאַ֖ל מָ֥ה אֶתֶּן־לָֽךְ׃In that night did God appear to Shelomo, and said to him, Ask what I shall give thee.8וַיֹּ֤אמֶר שְׁלֹמֹה֙ לֵאלֹהִ֔ים אַתָּ֗ה עָשִׂ֛יתָ עִם־דָּוִ֥יד אָבִ֖י חֶ֣סֶד גָּד֑וֹל וְהִמְלַכְתַּ֖נִי תַּחְתָּֽיו׃And Shelomo said to God, Thou hast shown great steadfast love to David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.9עַתָּה֙ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֔ים יֵֽאָמֵן֙ דְּבָ֣רְךָ֔ עִ֖ם דָּוִ֣יד אָבִ֑י כִּ֤י אַתָּה֙ הִמְלַכְתַּ֔נִי עַל־עַ֕ם רַ֖ב כַּעֲפַ֥ר הָאָֽרֶץ׃Now, O Lord, let thy promise to David my father be fulfilled: for Thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.10עַתָּ֗ה חׇכְמָ֤ה וּמַדָּע֙ תֶּן־לִ֔י וְאֵ֥צְאָ֛ה לִפְנֵ֥י הָעָם־הַזֶּ֖ה וְאָב֑וֹאָה כִּֽי־מִ֣י יִשְׁפֹּ֔ט אֶת־עַמְּךָ֥ הַזֶּ֖ה הַגָּדֽוֹל׃ {ס}Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge Thy people that is so great?11וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֣ים ׀ לִשְׁלֹמֹ֡ה יַ֣עַן אֲשֶׁר֩ הָיְתָ֨ה זֹ֜את עִם־לְבָבֶ֗ךָ וְלֹֽא־שָׁ֠אַ֠לְתָּ עֹ֣שֶׁר נְכָסִ֤ים וְכָבוֹד֙ וְאֵת֙ נֶ֣פֶשׁ שֹׂנְאֶ֔יךָ וְגַם־יָמִ֥ים רַבִּ֖ים לֹ֣א שָׁאָ֑לְתָּ וַתִּֽשְׁאַל־לְךָ֙ חׇכְמָ֣ה וּמַדָּ֔ע אֲשֶׁ֤ר תִּשְׁפּוֹט֙ אֶת־עַמִּ֔י אֲשֶׁ֥ר הִמְלַכְתִּ֖יךָ עָלָֽיו׃And God said to Shelomo, because this was in thy heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thy enemies, nor even hast thou asked long life;
